Role Overview
MINISO USA seeks an Assistant Buyer to support the buying team in curating a compelling and timely product mix aimed at achieving or surpassing sales and profit targets. The ideal candidate will be trend-aware with strong commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational assistance to the buying team including managing purchase orders while gaining foundational expertise in buying.
- Oversee creation and upkeep of purchase orders, ensure accurate product attributes in management systems, and maintain data synchronization.
- Conduct preliminary analyses on core business metrics such as retail math, merchandise reporting, Open-To-Buy, stock levels, and ad hoc sales/inventory forecasting.
- Prepare weekly performance reports, assess category and vendor results to pinpoint growth opportunities and challenges.
- Develop negotiation skills and build vendor relationships through face-to-face meetings, shipment follow-ups, and problem resolution to ensure seamless product delivery and processing per buyer direction.
- Gain proficiency in merchandising software and warehouse operations.
- Acquire solid product knowledge by visiting MINISO outlets and competitors, using insights to inform the Buying team about market opportunities.
- Collaborate with planners to monitor scheduled merchandise receipts, providing timely alerts on shipments and ensuring order fulfillment on schedule by coordinating with planning and allocation teams.
- Assist buyers in business meeting preparations such as vendor engagements, sample coordination, and assortment planning including report formatting.
- Support daily functions within the buying department, fostering partnership with buyers and associates on necessary activities.
- Organize and participate in market appointments equipped with strategic assortment plans, brand insights, and data-driven product evaluations.
- Coordinate with accounts payable to resolve invoice pricing and payment discrepancies.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at improving team performance and scaling operations.
- Stay informed on Beauty & Home industry trends, monitor competitor platforms, and share relevant findings.
- Manage merchandise flow, update merchant boards, and assist in maintaining accurate Buy Sheets by department.
- Build cross-functional relationships within internal teams.
- Prioritize and promptly respond to requests from buyers and cross-functional collaborators.
- Catalog and organize product samples efficiently.
Candidate Profile
- Basic understanding of retail mathematics.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite, with quick adaptability to new systems.
- Collaborative, enthusiastic, and research-oriented with the ability to use constructive feedback effectively.
- Results-driven, deadline-focused with reliable follow-through.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in team environments.
- Adept at managing competing priorities balancing short-term and long-term business needs with urgency.
- Strong skills in communication, time management, and interpersonal relations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or closely related fields is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have 1 to 3 years of retail buying experience.
Compensation
The position offers an annual salary of USD 70,304.
