Role overview

This is a remote opportunity for a Canada-based Assistant Controller to support a fast-scaling, data-focused organization. The position works closely with the Global Corporate Controller to help build a modern accounting environment that connects data platforms, ERP systems, and reporting processes. It is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical accounting, automation, internal controls, and financial operations oversight.

The mandate is to improve the accuracy, speed, and scalability of finance processes in a high-growth setting. You will help modernize month-end close, strengthen compliance, coordinate external audit work, and support accounting operations across multiple entities and currencies.

Key accountabilities

  • Research complex accounting matters and prepare technical memos on topics such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, debt accounting, stock-based compensation, and equity or financing transactions.
  • Coordinate and lead global external audit activities, serving as the main contact for auditors across several entities.
  • Develop and roll out internal control structures, while supporting SOX readiness and related compliance work.
  • Review month-end close output to ensure GAAP alignment and surface issues, inconsistencies, or control gaps.
  • Manage multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation work, intercompany reconciliations, and transfer pricing compliance.
  • Work with engineering and finance partners to map data movement between data warehouses and NetSuite, and automate close workflows.
  • Create and improve reconciliation processes that connect GAAP reporting with management reporting.
  • Introduce automation and AI-enabled tools to reduce manual effort and improve accounting efficiency.
  • Provide oversight for core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
