Job Purpose

The position of Main Mould Engineer (Assistant Manager) is responsible for heading the design, creation, and upkeep of molds employed in producing wind turbine blades, assuring precision in shape and structural quality. The engineer optimizes mold-related procedures, performs rigorous quality inspections, integrates advancements in technology, and maintains equipment operation and safety to support smooth, reliable manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and manufacturing of main molds using CAD and advanced molding methods, ensuring exactness in dimensions and robust construction.
  • Prepare detailed mold specifications, including core material layouts and surface treatments to enhance mold performance.
  • Institute maintenance routines for molds, encompassing regular checks, cleaning, and repairs to ensure accurate and efficient operations.
  • Perform calibration on molds and associated equipment to guarantee consistent output quality and dimensional fidelity.
  • Coordinate mold integration with blade fabrication processes, working closely with pre-fabrication and subsequent production teams to streamline workflow.
  • Enhance mold process parameters such as alignment and resin flow to boost production efficiency and blade quality.
  • Carry out thorough quality inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and laser scanning to confirm adherence to design and quality benchmarks.
  • Identify and remedy mold-related quality defects with corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Manage operation and upkeep of mold fabrication machinery, including CNC milling and injection molding systems, ensuring high functionality and uptime through routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Enforce strict safety measures for mold handling, including proper personal protective equipment usage and safe operation of heavy equipment.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with industry standards and keep detailed documentation to support audits and inspections.
  • Pursue continuous improvements in mold design and production, incorporating innovative materials and technologies to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry developments and assimilate best practices for ongoing innovation.
  • Document mold designs, fabrication, maintenance history, and performance data comprehensively.
  • Generate and deliver detailed reports regarding mold processes, issues encountered, and implemented solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and training for junior engineers and shop floor personnel in mold design, operation, and upkeep to elevate team skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficient knowledge of mold design, fabrication, and their role in production workflows within the wind energy industry.
