Role Overview
The Assistant Manager Shipping is accountable for managing daily shipping activities to guarantee efficient, precise, and punctual product deliveries. This role supports operational planning, supervises shipping workflows, resolves shipping challenges, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all shipping functions for seamless operations.
- Ensure products meet completion, preparation, and shipping requirements aligned with customer demands and schedules.
- Monitor daily shipping timetables and proactively handle any potential delays or disruptions.
- Manage backorder challenges to minimize impact on customers and maintain service quality.
- Resolve shipping issues raised by drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams.
- Collaborate with production, inventory, and customer service departments for accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the warehouse and shipping zones.
- Adhere to proper handling, loading, storage, and transportation protocols to avoid product damage.
- Ensure workplace safety standards and company policies are followed diligently.
- Guide and support shipping team members to meet operational targets.
- Assist in training and onboarding staff on procedures, safety, and best practices.
- Evaluate team performance and provide feedback to uphold productivity and quality.
- Partner with management to implement operational improvements and meet department goals.

Experience & Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, or distribution, ideally in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience managing teams is advantageous.
- Dispatch experience is a plus.
- Prior involvement in Manufacturing or Construction sectors preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exposure to diverse cultures and workforce dynamics.
- Ability to multitask and handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Working Conditions
- Frequent lifting or carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work performed both in a production facility and office within the shipping area.
- Repetitive physical movements and extended standing periods.
- Regular activities include walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stooping.
- Working in proximity to heavy tools and moving machinery.
- Exposure to various weather conditions as well as dust, dirt, and noise.
