Role Overview
Powen Engineering Pte Ltd is hiring an Assistant to Project Manager in Singapore. This full-time onsite role supports construction project delivery across planning, site coordination, cost tracking, quality control, safety compliance, and documentation.
Project Planning and Coordination
- Support the planning, organization, and end-to-end management of construction project stages.
- Assist in building schedules, work programs, and manpower/material resource plans.
- Work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to keep the project moving.
- Track progress and help put corrective measures in place when timelines or targets slip.
Site Management
- Monitor day-to-day site operations so work follows approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Take part in regular site inspections and project meetings.
- Help ensure manpower, equipment, and materials are assigned effectively.
- Address site issues and technical problems in a timely manner.
Budget and Cost Control
- Assist with preparing project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Keep an eye on project spending to support cost efficiency.
- Review variation orders, claims, and payment certifications.
- Track financial performance and escalate any budget deviations.
Quality Management
- Ensure work is aligned with project specifications, company requirements, and client expectations.
- Support quality control checks and inspection processes.
- Coordinate defect rectification and closeout/handover activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Help maintain compliance with workplace safety rules and company safety policies.
- Encourage a strong safety mindset across the site team.
- Assist with investigating incidents and putting preventive actions in place.
- Ensure necessary statutory permits and approvals are secured and kept current.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare progress updates for management and clients.
- Maintain organized records of contracts, drawings, correspondence, and other project documents.
- Monitor milestones and key performance indicators.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in construction project management.
- Good understanding of construction techniques, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Working knowledge of local construction rules, safety obligations, and quality benchmarks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, or similar project tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable handling several projects at once and working under pressure.
