Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Associate Designer to join our Women's Suiting division on a full-time contractual basis for 3 months, with a possibility for extension or transition to a permanent role. This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week in a dynamic and fast-moving design environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth global market research to identify emerging seasonal trends, fabrics, silhouettes, product categories, and competitor activities.
  • Contribute to the creation of seasonal product concepts and sketches, effectively advocating design proposals to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and nurture collaborative partnerships with teams including Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Visual Merchandising, and Marketing to ensure a cohesive process from concept development to retail execution.
  • Collaborate with Production to prepare technical packages and articulate the vision related to fit and design, ensuring quality standards and margin goals are achieved.
  • Engage actively by asking insightful questions and gathering feedback to comprehend project requirements thoroughly.
  • Complete assigned tasks such as participating in fit sessions, updating design sketches, and revising packages in accordance with prioritized objectives.
  • Handle administrative duties related to product design processes, including preparation of presentation materials to maintain team organization and timeline adherence.
  • Efficiently manage workload across multiple seasonal lines while monitoring development deadlines within a highly collaborative environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a refined sense of style, color, and aesthetics, capable of interpreting trends through the customer and brand perspective.
  • Extensive understanding of garment silhouette, fit, fabric, construction, color, sewing techniques, and trims, coupled with practical knowledge of apparel manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Keen attention to detail to identify and resolve discrepancies in design data or outcomes.
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Additional Details

This is a W2 contract position based onsite in New York, NY with an hourly compensation ranging between $40 and $49. The assignment spans 3 months, offering potential for extension or conversion. The role demands a fully collaborative working style within a hybrid structure and full-time availability of 40 hours per week.
