Job description

Position Overview

The York Region District School Board is seeking a permanent Athletic Manager at Bill Crothers Secondary School in Markham, Ontario. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and coordinate the school's athletic facilities and programs, starting immediately. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee all athletic programming in collaboration with teaching and management staff.
  • Maintain a comprehensive master calendar of school-related events such as sports competitions, conferences, and clinics.
  • Manage the procurement of school and team uniforms, athletic equipment, and facility maintenance, working jointly with Purchasing Services.
  • Organize accreditation opportunities and clinics in partnership with provincial sports organizations.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance both on-field and technical skills within programs.
  • Represent the school at regional athletic meetings and participate in relevant committees as an athletic delegate.
  • Plan and conduct athletic evenings and parent information sessions.
  • Collaborate with administration, academic staff, coaches, support personnel, and caretakers to develop specialized athletics programming and maximize use of facilities.
  • Coordinate with the York Region Athletic Executive, sports clubs, and coaching bodies for enhanced cooperation.
  • Arrange travel logistics for student athletes in regional and interschool events.
  • Research interschool sports programs and suggest adjustments to better meet athlete needs.
  • Manage the athletic department budget and advise on team-specific financial plans.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

  • A four-year university degree in human sport management or a related field, or equivalent certification recognized by the Board.
  • A minimum of three years of related professional experience.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with diverse groups both within the school board and externally.
