Job description

Role overview

This is a full-time, permanent Automation Engineer position based in Dublin, Ireland. The opportunity sits with a privately owned automation specialist operating internationally across Europe and the United States. The business delivers demanding, high-value automation work for sectors such as life sciences, data centres, food and beverage, and advanced manufacturing.

The company takes a vendor-neutral approach, so you will not be restricted to one platform. Instead, you will work across multiple automation technologies including Siemens, Rockwell, Emerson, Ignition, AVEVA, and others, selecting the most suitable solution for each project. With the organisation growing at more than 30% year on year, there is strong room for progression. The Dublin office is new and expanding, offering the chance to join at an early stage while still being supported by a larger international team of more than 2,000 employees.

Core responsibilities

You will take ownership of automation projects from the initial concept stage through to final commissioning. The role is highly practical and also includes aspects of delivery leadership and direct client interaction on site.

  • Create and deliver automation solutions across PLC, DCS, SCADA, and MES environments.
  • Contribute to design, development, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with clients and project teams at site level.
  • Support technically complex projects across multiple industries.
  • Travel across Ireland and Europe for around 40% to 50% of the time.
  • Collaborate within small to medium-sized engineering teams.

What they are looking for

The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in industrial automation, especially across PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems. You should be comfortable handling projects from start to finish and confident in a hands-on role where you may also guide delivery. Since the work is client-facing and site-based, a willingness to travel and work on location is important.

Important eligibility notes

Sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must already hold either a Stamp 4 permission or an EU passport. An EU passport is preferred, although holders of Stamp 4 can also be considered.

Why this opportunity stands out

This role offers real technical breadth, autonomy, and exposure to clients. You will be part of a fast-growing Dublin office and can help shape its development while being backed by a stable global organisation. As the team expands, there should be clear opportunities to progress.
