Role Overview

This role is focused on analyzing agricultural and food products through advanced biotechnological methods. Responsibilities include testing for genetically modified organisms (GMOs), allergens, pathogens, and differentiating between various crop varieties such as Basmati and non-Basmati rice, along with meat authentication. The position also entails collaborating in maintaining the laboratory's Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with international certifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct biotechnological tests such as GMO detection, allergen and pathogen analysis on agricultural and food items.
  • Support and uphold the laboratory's Quality Management System adhering to standards including ISO 17025, EIC, APEDA, OSHAS, and SGS India’s internal specifications.
  • Validate test methods and equipment, perform instrument calibration, and ensure thorough documentation updates.
  • Implement organizational guidelines at the local lab level effectively.
  • Participate actively in proficiency testing/interlaboratory comparisons (PT/ILC) and internal quality checks.
  • Operate and handle molecular biology equipment and techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, and genetic analyzers; familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) is advantageous.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years and maximum 4 years experience in quality control laboratories within agriculture, food, nutraceuticals, or biotechnology sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of biotech testing parameters and accreditation processes related to agriculture and food analysis.
  • Experience in developing and validating new test parameters.

Educational Qualifications

  • Essential: Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or Biotechnology.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Ensure timely completion of laboratory tasks.
  • Maintain laboratory turnaround time (TAT) for production.
  • Sustain accreditations and certifications.
  • Achieve successful participation in proficiency testing programs.
