Role Summary

This contract Bookkeeper position is based in Richmond, BC with a hybrid setup that allows some work from home. The successful candidate will handle day-to-day accounting operations, support financial reporting, and help keep records accurate, current, and compliant with internal policies and accounting requirements.

Key Duties

The role covers core bookkeeping and accounting support tasks, including transaction entry, reconciliations, payables and receivables, journal entry preparation, ledger maintenance, and assistance with close activities. The Bookkeeper will also help prepare financial statements, monitor cash flow, use accounting systems to generate reports, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts when required. Working closely with management and other team members to improve financial accuracy and streamline processes is also part of the position.

Qualifications and Expectations

Applicants should bring solid bookkeeping experience, especially with journal entries and maintaining an accurate general ledger. The role calls for the ability to prepare, review, and understand financial statements and related reports, along with comfort using accounting software and a good grasp of foundational finance concepts. Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to juggle several priorities and deadlines are important. A post-secondary background in Accounting, Finance, or a similar area is preferred, though equivalent practical experience is also acceptable. Experience in manufacturing or construction is considered an advantage. The ideal candidate can work both independently and in a small team, and communicates clearly while handling financial information with discretion, accuracy, and ethical care.

This position is offered on a contract basis. Work is arranged in a hybrid model, combining on-site responsibilities in Richmond, British Columbia, with remote flexibility.
