Job description

About the Company

Mumbrella is a well-known trade publication within Australia’s media and marketing landscape and is part of The Intermedia Group Pty Ltd. Established in 2009 and based in Glebe, the business also runs a broad events program that includes Mumbrella360, The Mumbrella Awards, CommsCon, REmade, and the Marketing Summit Series, with major events spanning the retail, finance, and travel sectors.

About the Role

The company is looking for a highly organised Brand Designer who brings strong creative thinking and a hands-on approach to join the marketing team. This position leads the visual delivery across the organisation’s events brands, commercial marketing assets, and editorial design needs, with a focus on maintaining a consistent and polished brand presence across all customer and partner touchpoints.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this person will act as the key creative contact for the business. The role supports audience growth, sponsorship opportunities, event attendance, and overall brand engagement through effective design work. It also includes project coordination responsibilities, such as working with offshore design support and outside suppliers to keep work moving on schedule and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and protect the visual identity across the organisation’s events and product portfolio.
  • Develop persuasive sales and go-to-market materials that respond to market needs and strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Keep visual standards aligned across marketing, commercial, editorial, digital, and event-related assets.
  • Shape creative ideas and design outputs that help business goals and campaign results.
  • Update and maintain brand rules, templates, and design systems as the brand evolves.
  • Manage briefs and delivery for on-site event collateral, including proofing and final quality checks.
  • As the primary creative lead, remain current with design trends and bring forward fresh concepts that elevate the work.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in graphic design, brand design, or creative services, along with a proven record of taking projects from concept to completion. A strong portfolio is required, showing work across brand, marketing, digital, and print applications.

Advanced capability in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, is essential. The role also calls for experience managing freelancers, external vendors, or offshore creative teams, plus a solid understanding of print production and event signage needs.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are important, as is the ability to juggle several deadlines and shifting priorities. Experience in media, publishing, events, or B2B marketing is preferred, along with exposure to conference, awards, or networking-event design. Additional advantages include knowledge of motion graphics, video editing, digital design tools, CMS and EDM platforms, presentation design, and AI tools used for creative resizing such as Jasper.

Why Join Us

  • Work on visible, high-profile events in a fast-moving and creative industry.
  • Enjoy a hybrid working model within a supportive and inclusive team environment.
  • Gain opportunities for development, learning, and attendance at leading industry events.
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals across media, marketing, advertising, and creativity.
