Business Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Technical/Functional Business Analyst to effectively connect business operations and technology in our Back Office Operations & Global Business Finance team. The chosen candidate will collaborate with Controllers, Finance, Operations, Product Owners, and Engineering to evaluate processes, gather requirements, and provide scalable enterprise solutions. Expertise in back-office finance operations, reconciliation, operational controls, and managing stakeholders is essential. Experience in Banking or Financial Services, especially in Wealth or Asset Management, is required. This role starts as consulting with a potential transition to full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Controllers, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to analyze business processes, operational challenges, and control needs.
• Lead stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirement elicitation sessions.
• Examine current workflows to pinpoint areas for process enhancement.
• Convert business needs into business process flows, functional specs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and data requirements.
• Ensure full traceability from business requirements through technical implementation to delivered features.
• Manage enterprise platforms supporting cash and position reconciliation, financial and trade operations, operational controls, exception management, approval workflows, and accounting operations.
• Work alongside Product Owners and Engineering teams to clarify requirements and prioritize development tasks, understanding APIs, data integrations, and basic database concepts.
• Assist in user acceptance testing, test planning, business validation, and resolving issues.
• Document current and future state processes, identify operational risks and inefficiencies, and recommend scalable solutions to fortify financial controls and enhance efficiency.
• Leverage AI tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, etc., to improve documentation, analysis, research, summarization, and productivity, while validating AI outputs for accuracy and compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business, Functional, or Technical Business Analyst.
• Experience within Banking or Financial Services, ideally Wealth or Asset Management.
• Proven background in Back Office, Controller, or Finance Operations.
• Familiarity with cash reconciliation, position reconciliation, trade operations, financial controls, accounting, or operations support functions.
• Strong skills in requirements gathering, process mapping, stakeholder management, and business documentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, understanding APIs, data flows, system integrations, and databases.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, balancing business needs and technical constraints.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Controllers, Treasury, Finance, Accounting, and Operations teams.
• Track record in implementing or enhancing back-office enterprise systems.
• Basic SQL proficiency for reporting and analysis.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with workflow automation, BPM tools, event-driven architectures, ERP or financial platforms.
• Understanding of audit, governance, compliance, and operational risk management.
• Hands-on use of AI productivity tools in business analysis tasks.
