Role overview
We are looking for a Temporary Traffic Management CAD Designer to create accurate, compliant traffic management drawings for a range of environments, including urban streets, rural routes, dual carriageways and motorways. The position is based in Birmingham, with hybrid working available.
The role sits within a technical team that supports projects from the earliest planning stages through to delivery. In addition to CAD design, the wider business offers swept path analysis, consultancy, RRRAP assessments, BIM/3D design and traffic modelling.
What you will do
- Prepare Temporary Traffic Management CAD drawings to a high standard
- Take responsibility for designs from initial brief through to final issue
- Work in line with the relevant standards, guidance and regulations
- Join client meetings and contribute to technical conversations
- Keep internal design files, records and supporting documentation up to date
- Carry out design risk assessments and help develop safer solutions
Working pattern
The role is for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with working hours between 7:30am and 4:30pm.
About you
You should be an organised and self-driven CAD professional who can communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. The ideal person works well to deadlines, adjusts quickly when priorities change, and takes pride in producing clear, precise and well-presented drawings. A strong focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement is important.
Essential experience and tools
- Previous experience working as a CAD design technician
- Background in a similar role and/or hands-on temporary traffic management installation
- Good knowledge of the relevant industry guidance and reference materials
- Confident using AutoCAD Civils, BricsCAD, Cone, AutoTURN, KeyLines and KeySigns
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable experience
- Knowledge of BIM and 3D design
- IHE Temporary Traffic Management Certificate, or progress towards it
