Cargo Development Director

Role overview

The Cargo Development Director will lead the strategic growth and day-to-day commercial management of cargo operations at the airport. This role focuses on increasing revenue, improving operational efficiency, and expanding cargo services through strong stakeholder coordination, pricing initiatives, and business development efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and execute the airport cargo strategic plan in line with Jedco’s wider objectives.
• Study market movements, industry standards, and commercial performance to uncover growth and income opportunities.
• Plan and manage cargo space allocation within Cargo City, working closely with architects and designers to ensure tenant requirements are met.
• Build pricing models, promotional activities, and merchandising approaches that support sales growth and stronger commercial outcomes.
• Work with airport leadership, airlines, concessionaires, and regulators to ensure cargo plans comply with operational expectations and standards.
• Review financial and operational results for cargo commercial activities and recommend improvements.
• Track revenue figures and key performance indicators to support strategy and decision-making.
• Maintain strong relationships with current and prospective cargo concessionaires while developing long-term industry partnerships.
• Lead negotiations for agreements that broaden the cargo network and improve service scope.
• Oversee cargo marketing and promotional initiatives, including the preparation of marketing materials.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to simplify cargo logistics processes and improve efficiency.
• Manage cargo-related documents and enquiries, and review processes to streamline workflows.
• Help ensure a smooth, high-quality experience for cargo customers at the airport.
• Carry out additional duties related to the role as assigned by the Line Manager.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline; a master’s degree will be considered an advantage. Prior experience in cargo commercial operations management within airports or similar industries is required. The role calls for strong analytical thinking, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and a detail-focused approach to pricing and operational planning. A successful candidate should be capable of leading teams, adapting quickly in a fast-moving airport setting, and using data analysis tools, project management software, and Microsoft Office effectively. Practical knowledge of cargo regulations, industry trends, and best practices is essential, and certification in cargo logistics or supply chain management is preferred.
