About the Role

The position of CEI Bridge Inspector offers an opportunity to engage in essential construction oversight and engineering support, focusing on bridge and roadway projects. The role involves field surveying, construction layout verification, and performing construction inspections to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and industry standards. Working under the guidance of project leadership, the inspector contributes to maintaining quality and safety in construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep detailed daily records of the contractor's work efforts and progress.
  • Coordinate on-site activities with contractors and utility representatives.
  • Prepare and manage project field books documenting construction activities.
  • Collect material samples and conduct testing to verify compliance.
  • Assist in compiling the Final Estimate documentation package.
  • Measure and verify construction dimensions, including distances, levels, alignments, and elevations.
  • Monitor ongoing construction work to confirm procedural compliance and material specifications.
  • Inspect finished work for quality and conformance with accepted installation standards.
  • Log quantities of materials used or received throughout construction phases.
  • Maintain comprehensive daily logs comparing inspection activities with project progress reports.
  • Support projects involving roadway, bridge, segmental construction, surveying, and environmental considerations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of experience in DOT roadway or bridge construction.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Certified in CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I and CTQP Concrete Transportation Construction Inspector (CTCI) Level II.
  • CTQP certifications in Asphalt Roadway Levels I & II.
  • CTQP Earthwork Levels I & II certification.
  • Certifications in CTQP Pile Driving Inspection and Drilled Shaft Inspection.
  • Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification.
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I certification.
  • Completion of the Critical Structures Construction Issues Self-Study Course.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with potential for overtime on an hourly basis.
