Position Summary
A rapidly expanding Canadian Credit Union is undergoing a major transformation phase, seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to report directly to the CEO. The COO will spearhead the organization's pivotal strategic initiative to deploy a new core banking technology platform integrated with lending and digital banking services while managing organizational change across the transformation effort. Post-implementation, the COO will be tasked with developing and scaling operational frameworks to support ambitious growth plans, new product launches, and enhanced capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the deployment of the new core banking and related technology platforms, working collaboratively with senior leadership, external vendors, and consultants to ensure successful project completion.
- Maintain high standards of operational performance across member services, lending functions, and transaction processing activities.
- Manage and continuously improve the core banking, mortgage, and digital banking systems, including developing policies, procedures, and control mechanisms.
- Support product launches by ensuring adequate system integrations, workflow designs, reporting mechanisms, and compliance adherence are in place.
- Promote operational efficiency through automation, innovation, and ongoing process enhancements.
- Work closely with the executive team and Board to shape and execute digital operations strategy.
Candidate Qualifications
- At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in financial services such as banks, credit unions, trust companies, or other deposit-taking institutions.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven success in steering large-scale operational changes, technology upgrades, or core banking implementations.
- Deep knowledge of banking operations including lending, deposits, digital banking, and customer service.
- Demonstrated capability to manage cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and external partners.
- A strategic mindset paired with hands-on leadership, capable of balancing immediate operational needs with long-range objectives.
