Job description

Role overview

This role is for an experienced Civil Engineer to join the Rotorua office and contribute to a varied pipeline of transport and civil infrastructure work across Rotorua and the wider Bay of Plenty area. It suits someone who wants to deepen technical capability and project delivery experience while collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

About the employer

The organization is a global professional services firm focused on helping shape communities through engineering, advisory, and scientific expertise. Its work spans transport, infrastructure, environment, buildings, energy, water, and mining-related sectors, with an emphasis on long-term positive impact and a future-focused approach.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the investigation, planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects in transport, land development, and water infrastructure.
  • Produce design outputs, technical drawings, written reports, and contract-related documents.
  • Support project management tasks such as scheduling, cost estimating, and administration under NZS 3910.
  • Work with clients, contractors, councils, and internal colleagues to achieve strong project outcomes.
  • Use New Zealand standards and gain exposure to MSQA and site supervision activities.
  • Help drive ongoing improvements in safety, quality, and customer service.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and has 3 to 5 years of professional experience in civil design and project delivery. Familiarity with Civil 3D and AutoCAD is required, along with working knowledge of New Zealand standards and design practices. Strong communication skills, a client-oriented mindset, and a current clean driver’s licence are also expected.

Health, safety, and workplace notes

Health and safety is treated as a fundamental priority. The selected candidate will be expected to follow the employer’s Health, Safety and Environment policy at all times, as well as any client-specific HSE requirements when working on client sites.

Some safety-sensitive roles may involve fieldwork in different environmental conditions, including remote or isolated settings, working alone, and working in adverse weather, within safe and reasonable limits.

The employer supports candidates with disabilities and can provide accommodations during the selection process upon request. The organization also follows employment equity principles and notes that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Unsolicited agency resumes are not accepted.

Application note

Applications are reviewed as they are received, so interested candidates are encouraged to submit their application without delay.
