Role Overview

Glanua is seeking a Civil Engineer to support delivery at Lisgold WwTP in County Cork. This is a full-time site-based position with a competitive salary and the chance to join a growing engineering business focused on water and wastewater infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Contribute as part of a collaborative team delivering one or more projects at the same time, supporting a unified project culture.
  • Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability requirements, procedures and site rules at all times.
  • Work in line with the HSQE management system and the relevant current statutory obligations.
  • Step in to manage the day-to-day running of the site when the project manager is unavailable.
  • Keep project schedules and budgets in mind, and understand the effect that delays or overspending can have on delivery.
  • Assess and refine specifications and design drawings, and help resolve design-related issues.
  • Use GPS, total station equipment and 3D scanning tools for setting out and for collecting as-built data.
  • Prepare technical documentation, quality records, safety-file inputs, O&M documentation and monthly progress updates.
  • Confirm that design intent, materials and workmanship meet the required standards.
  • Use procurement systems to arrange materials and subcontract packages when needed.
  • Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, site teams, commercial staff and the wider project group.
  • Lead weekly on-site whiteboard meetings and help plan the safe, efficient execution of work.
  • Deal directly with the employer’s representatives, stakeholders and members of the public as required.
  • Stay current with industry standards and technology through continuous professional development.
  • Show enthusiasm for learning, career progression, mentoring and training of junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar position, ideally within the water and wastewater sector.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a project team and contribute at meetings.
  • Confidence engaging suppliers and subcontractors during procurement and delivery stages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt when issues arise during project execution.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus GPS, total station and CAD.
  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of motivation.
  • A full driving licence.
