Civil Engineer - Bridges

Role Overview

The Civil Engineer will oversee and coordinate the construction activities related to bridges and infrastructure on projects, ensuring all tasks are completed according to approved designs, technical specifications, timelines, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of bridge and infrastructure construction ensuring conformity with IFC drawings, specifications, project protocols, and contract obligations.
• Provide technical assistance to site teams and monitor progress to maintain project schedules.
• Evaluate construction methods to ensure compliance with approved procedures and guarantee timely delivery.
• Manage bridge construction by verifying geometry, alignment, and structural tolerances with survey and quality teams.
• Coordinate interfaces between bridge structures and other infrastructure works, tackling any construction challenges.
• Guarantee adherence to project quality requirements, conduct inspections, and validate completed work before handover.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, clients and other stakeholders through meetings and technical coordination, delivering pragmatic engineering solutions.
• Support engineering team in managing design amendments and resolving technical queries promptly.
• Assist in planning and reporting by monitoring schedules, preparing progress reports, and evaluating construction productivity.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; promote a strong safety culture and oversee safe execution of high-risk activities such as lifting, working at heights, excavations, and temporary works.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s in Structural Engineering or Construction Management is advantageous.
• Professional engineering registration is preferable.
• 8 to 12 years of experience in major civil and infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years focused on bridge construction.
• Experience with large infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly desired.
• Familiarity working with international consultants, contractors, or government infrastructure initiatives is a plus.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple construction activities concurrently.
• Excellent communication, coordination, reporting, stakeholder management, and attention to detail.
• Proactive, solution-driven with leadership, teamwork, organizational skills and a commitment to safety and quality.
