Job description
Role Overview
This position involves working across multiple court and tribunal sites within the Colchester, Bury, and Ipswich areas. The role requires 40 hours per week with variable shifts according to operational needs. The Cluster Relief Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across the assigned cluster of buildings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver a professional and customer-focused service to all court users.
- Manage access control to court buildings, adhering strictly to security protocols.
- Operate security technologies including CCTV systems, x-ray scanners, and handheld metal detectors.
- Perform searches in alignment with site-specific procedures.
- Supervise public and restricted zones, maintaining constant communication with control centers.
- Patrol several courts within the designated cluster area.
- Provide prompt and effective responses to alarms, incidents, or potential security breaches.
- Keep accurate records and reports of all incidents and daily activities.
- Facilitate the safe and secure movement of individuals within the premises.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, compliance, and health and safety measures consistently.
Candidate Requirements
- Right to work in the UK with the ability to secure enhanced DBS and BS7858 security clearances.
- Possession of a current SIA Licence along with relevant security experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service aptitude.
- Professional, reliable, and attentive to detail.
- Sound knowledge of security and health & safety procedures.
- Capability to maintain composure and act appropriately under pressure or in challenging scenarios.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle for traveling between sites.
- Willingness and flexibility to serve multiple locations within the cluster as operational needs dictate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within public sector or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with security infrastructure like CCTV and screening equipment.
