Job overview

This role is with The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, a luxury resort in West Bay Lagoon, Doha, Qatar. The property offers rooms and suites, dining venues, spa and fitness facilities, pools, a private beach, a club lounge, and event spaces. The position is part of the Food and Beverage & Culinary team and is classified as a full-time, non-management role.

Role summary

The Commis 3 position supports kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, helping with food production, and ensuring dishes are made to the required recipes, quality benchmarks, and presentation standards. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness, following food safety procedures, and working closely with the culinary team to keep service running smoothly.

Key duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, and mixing as needed.
  • Assist in cooking food in line with recipes, preparation checklists, presentation rules, and quality standards.
  • Prepare cold food items and monitor food quality throughout the preparation process.
  • Use kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and correctly.
  • Check that food is cooked properly and that appliance and food temperatures are correct.
  • Set up and close down the workstation and serve food in the correct portions and containers.
  • Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment.
  • Follow company policies, safety rules, and security procedures, and report incidents, injuries, maintenance issues, and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect confidential company information.
  • Communicate clearly, build positive working relationships, and support the team in achieving shared goals.
  • Stay compliant with quality expectations and carry out additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Work expectations

The job may require standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, including entire shifts. It can also involve bending, twisting, reaching overhead and below the knees, and moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Preferred qualification

This role prefers a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, along with at least one year of relevant work experience. No supervisory experience is required, and no license or certification is needed.
