About the Company

H&M Group is a global fashion company with multiple brands and ventures. The organization aims to combine strong design, accessible pricing, and sustainable practices without compromise. Its mission is to make fashion available to more people, while keeping customers central to every decision. The company brings together thousands of colleagues who share a common culture and set of values, working collectively to support a more inclusive and sustainable fashion future.

Role Overview

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for steering construction projects from start to finish, making sure they are completed efficiently, professionally, and in line with company standards, policies, quality expectations, and timelines. The role covers planning, budgeting, contracting, execution, documentation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to deliver safe, sustainable, and cost-conscious outcomes. This position reports to the Construction Manager and is based in Miami as a hybrid role tied to the Sales Region location.

Key Responsibilities

The role spans all phases of construction project delivery, including pre-construction, procurement, site execution, and handover. Responsibilities include preparing project budgets and business cases, carrying out site surveys, identifying risks, improving timelines and cost efficiency, managing permits, overseeing contractors and contracts, tracking quality and safety, and ensuring thorough project documentation and handover to Facility Management. The position also involves frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Planning, Budgeting & Pre-Construction

  • Build investment budgets and business cases in line with global construction procedures.
  • Visit sites, assess options for value improvement, and complete risk reviews to support decisions.
  • Create detailed project schedules from inputs provided by internal stakeholders and external consultants, with a focus on shortening timelines and lowering installation, labour, and related expenses.
  • Coordinate with Leasing and Legal teams on contract boundaries and obligations.
  • Work with consultants and public authorities to obtain all necessary approvals and permits.
  • Continuously improve planning and follow-up tools and actively share effective practices within the team.
  • Use retro-planning based on inputs from other departments and consultants to reduce installation, labor, and other costs.

Procurement, Contracting & Partner Management

  • Assist the Procurement Specialist with identifying and sourcing external partners.
  • Support the qualification of new contractors to keep a strong and reliable supplier network.
  • Review agreements to ensure project risks and country-specific risks are covered, and include execution and payment schedules.
  • Make sure contracts and appendices are approved and signed before any work starts.
  • Maintain strong contract management throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Ensure country-specific risks are built into contracts and that payment terms align with legal and market standards.
  • Store contracts properly and make sure they are signed in accordance with approval authorities and governance requirements.

Project Execution, Quality & Health & Safety

  • Ensure stores are designed and constructed according to building specifications and interior guidelines.
  • Track construction progress through site visits and project meetings to confirm deadlines, quality, and compliance are on track.
  • Confirm that Health & Safety requirements are established and consistently followed.
  • Handle change orders, maintain clear financial transparency, and keep the project within approved budget forecasts.
  • Verify that invoices match contract terms and follow up on landlord contributions.

Documentation, Handover & Collaboration

  • Keep project timelines updated in LIMA (Planon) to support internal planning and future benchmarking.
  • Maintain complete project documentation before, during, and after delivery, in accordance with global filing guidelines.
  • Review change orders carefully and uphold financial clarity across all projects.
  • Follow up on landlord contribution payments to ensure reimbursement happens on time.
  • Deliver a structured and high-quality handover to Facility Management.
  • Share relevant information with other departments promptly and in an organized manner.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, giving and requesting feedback to uncover improvement opportunities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a similar field. Experience in project management, retail construction, facility management, and/or real estate is expected, along with a strong grasp of supplier and contract management. Candidates should understand construction work in a retail setting, know how to spot risks and opportunities, be comfortable with MS Office, and communicate fluently in English. Experience managing external suppliers, multiple stakeholders, and work within a large international organization is considered an advantage. The role suits someone who is communicative, supportive, consultative, creative, methodical, resilient, and results-driven, even when working under pressure.
