Job description

Role overview

The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, while also assisting employees and internal teams with payroll questions and resolving pay-related issues. This position reports to the Payroll Manager, CA and is based at the Toronto, CA Support Office.

Key responsibilities

  • Check all new hires in the payroll, HRIS, and time-and-attendance systems, then correct any inconsistencies found.
  • Keep both digital and physical employee records organized and up to date.
  • Update payroll records for employee changes, including direct deposit information.
  • Set up and manage payroll tax details.
  • Review worked hours in the time-and-attendance platform to confirm both exempt and non-exempt employees are paid correctly.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from internal stakeholders with a strong service mindset.
  • Prepare reports for Area teams and functional leaders as needed.
  • Make sure wellness time and vacation balances are recorded accurately.
  • Handle employment verification requests and unemployment claims.
  • Support store teams with payroll-related questions.
  • Work with Area teams to settle employee pay discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with the Payroll Manager or Payroll Supervisor to complete time-sensitive data entry accurately and on schedule.
  • Help with special projects assigned by payroll leadership.

Requirements and qualifications

  • At least 2 years of payroll experience.
  • PCP certification is considered an advantage.
  • Experience using Dayforce HCM and SAP, or comparable timekeeping/payroll systems, is preferred.
  • Background in large, fast-moving, complex organizations with 2,000+ employees is an asset.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work, manage time, maintain accuracy, and communicate effectively.
  • Positive, inclusive, open to feedback, adaptable, and comfortable handling multiple tasks while learning on the job.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is CAD 51,900 to CAD 59,200. H&M notes that pay may vary depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and that the range may change in the future.

This is a full-time onsite role in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
