About Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) and Snowy 2.0

The Future Generation Joint Venture combines the engineering expertise of WeBuild, Clough, and Lane, selected to deliver the Snowy 2.0 project—a major renewable energy initiative located in the Snowy Mountains, NSW. This large pumped hydro scheme aims to provide reliable, on-demand energy storage for generations, marking a significant milestone in Australia's energy landscape.

Role Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to engage in cost control activities to optimize the use of the project's capital and labor resources effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering management or an equivalent qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or an equivalent qualification.
  • Possession of a valid White Card.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost controlling or project estimating roles within major infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Comfortable working on large-scale construction or similarly substantial projects.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and STR Vision CPM software.
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills; adept at using MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster effective working relationships with operations management to deliver valuable management information.
  • Excellent communication, organizational capabilities, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive mindset with adaptability to shifting priorities and meeting deadlines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and analyse project progress and costs to ensure alignment with FGJV's budget and allocated resources.
  • Prepare and review the executive budget biannually or after significant changes.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing estimated and actual costs related to personnel, inventory, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate closely with the project management team to maintain expenditures within budget.
  • Report financial analyses and forecasts to the Finance Manager.
  • Monitor the project's financial progress continuously.
  • Ensure accurate capturing and recording of expenditures.
  • Perform gap analysis of cost control procedures and attend site audits to verify compliance.
  • Compile production statistics and prepare comprehensive monthly reports.
  • Establish and maintain cost control procedures to maximize resource utilization.
