About the Role and Company
Join AECOM, a global leader in infrastructure consulting, dedicated to creating a better world through innovative planning, design, engineering, and construction management across diverse sectors including transportation and water. Currently, we seek a Cost Manager specializing in rail projects based in our Dublin office, to drive effective budgeting, procurement, and cost control processes to ensure financial accountability and project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain robust cost-control mechanisms to track and forecast budgets and expenditures for projects.
- Develop, review, and manage project budgets aligning with objectives and financial targets.
- Lead comprehensive procurement activities from supplier prequalification through contract preparation.
- Ensure tender documents are accurate, complete, and comply with project requirements.
- Generate detailed cost reports and provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership for cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including estimating, scheduling, and system implementation for integrated planning and execution.
- Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to define and monitor cost goals, assessing performance against set targets.
- Identify cost-related risks and devise mitigation strategies to limit financial exposure.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis supporting value-for-money decisions and initiatives to reduce costs.
- Manage cost variances and cash flow, ensuring timely and accurate documentation submissions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organisational policies across all cost-management functions.
- Promote continuous improvement by adopting best practices and innovative approaches within cost management.
- Mentor and support junior staff to ensure effective delivery of cost-related tasks.
- Perform additional responsibilities to aid overall project delivery success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Level 8 degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in cost management for large-scale or complex projects.
- Strong background in managing cost functions within major project environments to meet programme objectives.
- Expertise in project budgeting, construction risk assessment, scheduling, planning, design, and cost estimating at multiple project phases.
- Proven ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders across organizational levels to improve processes and reporting.
