About the Role

Join a specialist international shipping company located just outside Bury St Edmunds, where customs operations play a vital role. Our client boasts more than three decades of expertise in transporting high-value, prestigious, and specialist vehicles worldwide. They seek an experienced Customs Specialist to join their well-established International Shipping team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare customs clearance documentation for import sea and air freight shipments.
  • Complete export customs declarations and related paperwork.
  • Use customs software such as Destin8, CNS, ASM, or similar systems to process customs entries.
  • Manage sea freight export documentation and handle T-Form issuance and discharge for European road freight.
  • Maintain accurate bonded warehouse records and customs documentation.
  • Support customs procedures for European road freight imports and exports.
  • Process authorisations including IPR, NOVA, and ATR (BTI) applications as needed.
  • Prepare and manage air freight documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, freight agents, shipping lines, ports, and hauliers to ensure efficient cargo movements.
  • Guarantee compliance with current customs regulations and maintain detailed, accurate records.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with regular updates on shipment status.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous customs clearance experience within freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics industries.
  • Sound understanding of UK import and export customs regulations and procedures.
  • Proficient in processing customs entries and familiarity with relevant software such as Destin8, CNS, or ASM.
  • Knowledge of sea freight, air freight, and/or European road freight operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

Additional Information and Benefits

  • Salary range: £30,000 to £35,000 annually.
  • Standard working hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday with some flexibility.
  • Holidays: 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with an option to buy back additional holiday.
