Cylindrical Grinding Operator

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Cylindrical Grinding Operator to join our Production / Tool Room team. This role involves setting up and operating cylindrical grinding machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and stringent quality standards, ensuring accuracy, surface finish, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run cylindrical grinding machinery for various grinding operations including external, internal, and taper grinding.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed work instructions accurately.
• Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and height gauges to verify component specifications.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels based on material type and job needs, including performing wheel dressing and balancing as necessary.
• Monitor machine performance, adjusting settings during operations to maintain quality.
• Conduct regular cleaning and preventive maintenance of machines.
• Report any equipment faults or quality concerns promptly to supervisors.
• Maintain detailed production records and inspection logs.
• Adhere strictly to 5S methodology, workplace safety, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to meet production deadlines and quality targets.

Requirements

• ITI or Diploma in Machinist, Fitter, Tool & Die Making, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2 to 5 years of experience operating cylindrical grinding machines.
• Strong knowledge of cylindrical grinding processes and GD&T symbols.
• Proficient in selecting and dressing grinding wheels.
• Experienced with precision measuring instruments and understanding of surface finish and tolerance standards.
• Basic skills in machine maintenance.
• Attention to detail with strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Effective communication skills.
• Flexibility to work in shifts as required.

Working Environment

• Work takes place in a factory/tool room setting.
• Standing for prolonged periods is common.
• Handling heavy workpieces using lifting equipment when needed.
• Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
