Job description

Role overview

Meta is hiring a Data Scientist to work closely with product teams and help steer decisions using data. The role focuses on understanding user behavior, quantifying the effect of product changes, and guiding product strategy across Meta’s apps and platforms. You will use both quantitative and qualitative methods, run experiments, build predictive models, and create scalable analytics tools that help teams turn findings into action. Your work will influence product roadmaps and contribute to experiences used by billions of people.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and assess A/B tests to estimate how product changes affect user behavior and core metrics.
  • Develop statistical and predictive modeling approaches that generate insights useful for product direction.
  • Create and support scalable data pipelines and self-serve dashboards that help partners analyze product performance.
  • Establish success metrics and measurement systems that connect product goals with business outcomes.
  • Run exploratory and confirmatory analysis on large behavioral datasets to uncover opportunities and potential issues.
  • Work with product managers, engineers, and designers to turn analytical findings into prioritized product actions.
  • Present complex analysis in clear written and visual formats for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support cross-functional teams with analytical design, hypothesis development, and interpretation of research findings.
  • Use AI tools in analytical workflows to speed up insight generation, improve reproducibility, and broaden analysis coverage.
  • Help define team goals by sizing opportunities, monitoring operational performance, and identifying measurement gaps.

Requirements

  • Background in data science, applied analytics, or another quantitative discipline, with experience on consumer or enterprise products.
  • Hands-on experience designing controlled experiments, including hypothesis setup, statistical testing, and result interpretation.
  • Strong production-level coding ability in SQL plus at least one scripting language such as Python or R for large dataset analysis.
  • Experience developing predictive models with statistical or machine learning methods and translating outputs into product recommendations.
  • Ability to build data visualizations and self-service dashboards for varied stakeholder groups.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience creating forecasting models with time-series techniques.
  • Familiarity with responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk review, bias mitigation, and quality checks.
  • Ongoing learning in AI methods such as prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration.
  • Experience with social platforms, feed ranking, notifications, or engagement products involving high-volume, high-dimensional behavioral data.
  • Exposure to causal inference methods such as difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, or regression discontinuity in product analytics.
  • Ability to use AI tools to redesign workflows and create measurable gains in efficiency or quality.
  • Track record of shaping product roadmap decisions through data-driven storytelling and stakeholder alignment.
