About Toshiba JSW Power Systems

Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Limited is a collaborative venture between Toshiba Corporation, Japan, and the JSW Group, India, focused on manufacturing and supplying super-critical steam turbines and generators for thermal power plants across India. Founded in 2008 and operational since January 2011, it has expanded by merging with Toshiba Thermal & Hydro Power Systems to offer comprehensive engineering, manufacturing, procurement, construction, and service solutions for thermal power plants. The company operates from a large manufacturing facility in Manali, Chennai, and targets production of turbines and generators ranging from 500MW to 1000MW, aiming for an annual production scale of 3000MW supported by Toshiba's production facilities in Japan.

Role Overview

The position involves leading the complete engineering design and development of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and turbine control systems, including DEH/EHC for large thermal and hydro power plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct both basic and detailed engineering for Distributed Control Systems and Turbine DEH/EHC control and protection systems.
  • Develop control philosophies and overall DCS configuration.
  • Create functional design specifications, tag databases, logic diagrams, and system configurations.
  • Design mimics and DCS panels, including hardware selection and layout.
  • Engineer industrial communication protocols such as OPC and Modbus.
  • Formulate and implement cyber security philosophies, policies, and OT system protections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups including project management, commissioning teams, and clients.
  • Ensure adherence to technical standards, project requirements, and quality benchmarks.
  • Engage in system testing, site commissioning, and problem resolution activities.
  • Support preparation of documentation, conduct design reviews, and facilitate client approvals.

Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
  • Practical experience with DCS platforms and controls in large power plants.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Professional integrity, confidentiality, and high work ethics.
  • Experience in overall project management of DCS projects is advantageous.
