Job description

About the Company

BD is a major global medical technology business focused on advancing healthcare through innovation. The company develops large-scale MedTech solutions used around the world and supports a culture built on growth, collaboration and human impact.

Role Overview

As a Design Draftsperson, you will help pharmacy owners visualise future spaces by producing layouts that show how BD Rowa automation will be positioned and operate within their environment. This role is a 2-year fixed-term contract based in Sydney, with work spanning ANZ projects. You will partner directly with customers to present concepts, refine designs and move ideas through to final delivery.

The position combines technical drafting with customer engagement, making you part of the wider customer journey rather than simply working behind the scenes. Your work will help translate project plans into practical, visual solutions that support confident investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop pharmacy layouts and workflow plans that integrate BD Rowa solutions.
  • Prepare early-stage concept sketches as well as final drawings ready for installation.
  • Meet with customers to explain proposed designs, present alternatives and adjust layouts based on feedback.
  • Revise design work in response to customer input, operational requirements and workflow needs.
  • Draft design briefs aligned to customer expectations and project goals.
  • Assist project and sales teams by creating visuals that support later-stage sales conversations.
  • Build workflow concepts that improve space usage, efficiency and day-to-day usability.
  • Keep design files, records and project documentation current and organised.
  • Look for ways to improve presentation quality, including through 3D or other enhanced visual tools.
  • Remain up to date with trends in pharmacy and retail space design.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD or comparable drafting/design software.
  • Previous exposure to retail, store planning or interior design is highly valued.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence when presenting ideas to customers.
  • Ability to respond to feedback quickly and refine designs in real time.
  • Proactive, practical and solution-oriented approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail together with good organisation skills.
  • Interest in improving design output, including 3D or other enhanced visualisation methods.
  • Capability to manage several projects at once and work independently.
  • Experience with pharmacy layout design is helpful, but not mandatory.

What’s on Offer

  • 2-year fixed-term contract with a global MedTech leader, with potential to extend or convert to permanent.
  • Opportunity to work on real customer projects with direct commercial impact.
  • A role that blends design work with meaningful customer interaction.
  • Chance to contribute to improved design presentation, including 3D concepts.
  • Supportive environment with cross-functional project collaboration.

Workplace and Company Culture

BD is a large, people-focused organisation with more than 70,000 associates worldwide. The company places strong emphasis on career development, and in ANZ a significant number of positions are filled internally. The workplace values in-person collaboration, believing it helps teams learn faster, work more closely and build a stronger culture.
