Job description

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Duty Manager in Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) oversees and directs daily shift operations, ensuring strict adherence to established operational standards and procedures. This role involves monitoring flight activities including schedules, On-Time Performance (OTP), delays, and cancellations, and taking proactive measures to reduce disruptions.

Effective coordination is essential with stakeholders such as airlines, ground handlers, ATC, and security agencies to facilitate smooth operations. Managing resource allocation like parking stands, boarding gates, check-in counters, and baggage reclaim systems is critical to maximizing airport assets.

In emergency or contingency situations, the Duty Manager implements response plans and manages crises to limit impact on passengers and airport functions. The role includes leadership responsibilities, guiding the team on the shift, evaluating their performance, and promoting their professional development.

Operational Coordination and Compliance

The Duty Manager serves as the central liaison during shifts, maintaining communications regarding operational updates or emergency responses with senior management and involved parties. Strict compliance with company policies, airport SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements is maintained at all times.

Accurate documentation of shift operations, incidents, and disruptions is maintained in AOCC/JCC systems. Daily shift reports with performance data such as OTP and resource utilization are prepared for management review.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Internal stakeholders include the AOCC/JCC leadership, department heads, airport operations team, ATC, security, emergency medical services, engineering & maintenance, and HSE teams.
  • External stakeholders encompass airlines, ground handlers, non-scheduled operators, government agencies (Customs, Immigration, CISF, ARC, Air Force, Military), and medical organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in airport operations.
