Job description

Role overview

This position supports the Senior Engineer in delivering electrical engineering activities in line with SEHA safety requirements, management systems, policies, procedures, and all applicable statutory and contractual obligations.

Core duties

  • Plan and design electrical works across the assigned area.
  • Create electrical layouts and drawings using CAD tools when needed.
  • Determine suitable circuits, breakers, and equipment based on engineering calculations.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and regulations for electrical power equipment.
  • Work out delivery timelines and installation schedules for machinery, cabling, and fittings.
  • Support the preparation of construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Oversee day-to-day departmental operations.
  • Monitor electrical work before, during, and after project execution.
  • Ensure all work follows contract drawings, specifications, instructions, and programmes.
  • Organize material compliance testing and evaluation, and keep accurate records.
  • Schedule and document inspection and testing of materials and workmanship.
  • Identify, raise, resolve, and track technical queries and extended scope items.
  • Carry out testing and commissioning of equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Maintain departmental documentation and records.
  • Prepare construction programmes, coordination plans, and updates as needed.
  • Prepare material take-offs, compare pricing, and place material orders as required.
  • Maintain document control systems for construction and maintenance records.
  • Support permit-to-work planning and task risk assessments.
  • Draft method statements when required.
  • Prepare project status reports as needed.
  • Coordinate and consult with other healthcare disciplines.
  • Report electrical work progress and issues to the Senior Engineer.
  • Attend interdisciplinary meetings to provide technical guidance.
  • Join meetings with Health Authority Engineering Directorate representatives.
  • Contribute to the development, communication, and review of standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and committees where relevant.
  • Improve team procedures and manuals in discussion with senior management.
  • Lead subordinates, support team development, handle complaints, set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and help sustain team motivation.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Candidates should have 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in a similar industry. Experience in a large healthcare facility is preferred.

The role requires ongoing coordination with engineering and healthcare stakeholders and a strong focus on compliance, documentation, and quality control throughout project and maintenance work.
