Job description

Company Overview

Waagner Biro Bridge Services is a recognized leader specializing in high-quality bridge construction, steel structures, and marine engineering projects. The company is known for delivering technically advanced and iconic structures and offers design and build solutions for harbors, marinas, and jetties. Additionally, they provide comprehensive facility management services encompassing bridges, road infrastructure, buildings, and aviation facilities to ensure long-term operational excellence.

Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and technically adept Electrical Engineer with 7 to 10 years of hands-on expertise in electrical installation, testing, and commissioning within industrial, infrastructural, and utility construction environments. The successful candidate will have a strong command over all electrical scopes and demonstrate the capacity to independently oversee site activities, efficiently coordinate with stakeholders, and resolve technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage electrical installation activities aligning with approved project drawings, specifications, safety norms, and quality standards.
  • Supervise site-based electrical tasks including but not limited to lighting systems, earthing setups, power distribution assemblies, panel boards, UPS installations, fire alarm systems, instrumentation, cabling, glanding, and terminations.
  • Conduct thorough electrical testing and commissioning procedures such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), Megger insulation testing, continuity and loop tests, along with fundamental instrument calibration.
  • Collaborate effectively with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and seamless execution of projects.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and solve site-level electrical and instrumentation issues throughout installation and commissioning stages.
  • Maintain and review comprehensive electrical documentation including test reports, as-built drawings, method statements, and commissioning records.
  • Assist in commissioning activities involving PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems where applicable.
  • Ensure all activities comply with project specifications, quality assurance policies, and health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
  • Monitor project progress, evaluate manpower productivity, and assess material requirements to meet scheduled milestones.
  • Participate actively in inspections, testing phases, and final project handovers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Accumulate 7 to 10 years of site-oriented experience specifically in electrical installation, testing, and commissioning for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Candidates with relevant experience in water-centric industrial domains such as pumping systems, sewage treatment plants, or district cooling plants with water system knowledge are also welcome.
  • Demonstrate hands-on expertise in a diverse range of electrical areas including lighting, earthing, panels, instrumentation, fire alarm systems, UPS, cabling, glanding, and termination works.
  • Prioritize candidates with experience primarily on industrial or infrastructure construction rather than residential building projects, operation & maintenance roles alone, high-voltage tasks, or panel assembly.
  • Proven experience performing electrical testing and commissioning encompassing FAT, SAT, Megger testing, loop tests, and basic instrument calibration is essential.
  • Exposure to commissioning PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems is advantageous; related training or certification is desirable.
  • Able to work autonomously at construction sites, coordinate diverse stakeholder requirements, and solve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Proficient in maintaining electrical system documentation; familiarity with electrical design software tools adds value.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, lighting, and power distribution networks.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, coordination, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Possession of a valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.
