Role Overview
This full-time, on-site Estimator role based in Wexford entails examining drawings, specifications, and project documents to generate precise cost evaluations for structural steel initiatives. Responsibilities include managing bids and proposals, completing pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), and promoting the company’s services.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure quantities of materials and labor required for projects.
- Solicit and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop thorough tender submissions.
- Collaborate with design, production, and project management teams to align estimates with current processes and client specifications.
- Support ongoing cost monitoring, value engineering, and budget revisions throughout projects.
- Contribute to competitive pricing strategies and maintain strong client relationships.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in cost estimation, quantity take-offs, and budgeting specifically for structural steel or related construction projects.
- Capability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents concerning structural steel, intumescent coatings, metal decking, and metalworks including grating.
- Experience using estimation software is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Comfortable with Excel and other digital tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communicator and team player capable of collaborating across multiple departments.
- Relevant educational background in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Familiarity with structural steel fabrication processes and industry standards is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Wexford, juggle multiple tenders, and operate efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Highly self-reliant, confident, and capable of making decisive decisions that influence business outcomes.
