Role Overview
Glen Innes Severn Council is seeking a skilled Executive Assistant to provide dedicated support to the General Manager and Mayor. This key position involves coordinating meetings, managing competing priorities, preparing documentation, and facilitating smooth operations to help maintain momentum on critical decisions, projects, and community efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and manage calendars, meeting schedules, and travel plans.
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and presentations for senior leaders.
- Support Council and committee meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up actions.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and files.
- Assist with civic events including Australia Day celebrations and Citizenship Ceremonies.
- Gather and synthesize information to aid management decision-making.
- Respond promptly to queries from Councillors, staff, and community members.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have solid experience supporting executives, senior managers, elected officials, or leadership teams. They should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail, and strong professional communication capabilities.
- Qualifications in Business Administration or comparable experience.
- Strong independent work ethic and organizational aptitude.
- Outstanding written communication and document production skills.
- Sound judgment in managing confidential information.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and legislative frameworks effectively.
Experience within local government is highly desirable, especially familiarity with governance processes, Council meetings, and software platforms such as Civica Altitude, ECM (DataWorks), or InfoCouncil.

- Employment: Permanent full-time contract role, 70 hours per fortnight.
- Salary: Starting from $92,712 per annum inclusive of superannuation.
