Finance Reporting Analyst

Role overview

This position is for a developing finance professional who will work within accounting and reporting, using specialty knowledge to review processes and data, identify control or policy gaps, draw conclusions, and suggest practical improvements. The role requires interpreting information, spotting inconsistencies, and recommending changes to policies, procedures, or operating practices. It also calls for applying core knowledge in the function while building familiarity with related industry standards and how the team collaborates with other groups.

The Finance Reporting Analyst will handle day-to-day accounting work, including close activities, sub-ledger reviews, posting adjustments, and consolidating financial results at period end. The role carries a limited but direct impact on the business through the quality and accuracy of the work delivered, with responsibility mainly focused on the assigned team.

Compensation accounting responsibilities

• Support management of compensation-related portfolios such as equity, pension, severance, and incentive compensation.
• Calculate and post accruals and adjustments correctly and within agreed timelines.
• Help prepare and submit reports for different audiences, including US GAAP, US regulatory, and local statutory requirements.
• Track progress and keep senior leaders updated on noteworthy financial items.
• Strengthen internal control by ensuring checks are embedded in working files and carefully reviewed during process checks.
• Contribute to process simplification, standardization, and efficiency initiatives that reduce turnaround time and error rates.
• Review accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to help ensure compliance with financial standards and regulatory expectations.
• Work in line with regional and global procedures and rules.
• Operate with limited direct supervision while taking ownership of assigned work.
• Represent compensation processes internally and externally as needed.
• Handle operational accounting and reporting of compensation lines across regions.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis.
• Produce accurate accounting reconciliations in Citi reporting tools.
• Prepare accounts for processing according to global guidance.
• Support implementation of procedures and development of reports.
• Follow key controls within the accounting process under your scope.
• Deliver routine accounting outputs reliably and on schedule.
• Escalate issues tied to transactions, processes, reports, or procedures when required.
• Use knowledge of concepts and procedures, along with a basic understanding of other areas, to resolve matters affecting your own function.
• Apply an understanding of team and cross-team dependencies to meet objectives effectively.
• Assess past or similar situations and choose among options when a scenario is not fully covered by standard procedures.
• Understand that the role has a direct but limited effect on the business and an impact on the team and closely connected teams.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of experience in accounting management is preferred, with compensation accounting experience considered an advantage.
• CA fresher, MBA, or CPA qualification.
• Working knowledge of relevant financial regulations.
• Experience with monthly ledger variance analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with clear, concise expression.
