Overview
We are seeking a skilled Game Developer specializing in game tools and modding engineering with strong expertise in rendering and engine-level programming. This contract position involves creating high-performance, real-time applications by working extensively on graphics systems, rendering pipelines, and low-level optimizations. The technologies utilized include DirectX (DX11 and DX12), Vulkan, OpenGL, and similar graphics APIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement core game systems and engine functionalities using C++ within game engines.
- Develop and maintain tools and modding features associated with games.
- Design and optimize rendering pipelines, shaders, and real-time graphics workflows.
- Enhance performance across CPU, GPU, memory, and rendering operations.
- Create and refine tools, pipelines, and engine infrastructure supporting development processes.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including designers, artists, and engineers to ensure excellent user experiences.
- Investigate and resolve complex debugging challenges related to rendering, performance, and platform interoperability.
- Produce code that is clear, maintainable, and well-documented.
- Engage in code review processes and contribute to critical technical decisions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3 to 6 years of professional experience in game development or real-time graphics programming.
- Proficient in C++ programming.
- Practical experience with one or more graphics APIs such as DirectX (DX11/12), Vulkan, OpenGL, or Metal.
- Comprehensive understanding of rendering pipelines and shader programming (HLSL/GLSL).
- Strong grasp of 3D mathematics and real-time graphics principles.
- Experience working with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
- Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for CPU, GPU, memory management, and multithreading.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and debugging skills.
- Capable of effectively working independently within a remotely distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in engine customization or development of low-level systems.
- Familiarity with graphics profiling tools such as RenderDoc, PIX, Nsight, etc.
- Experience in cross-platform development or working within performance-sensitive environments.
- Exposure to development tooling, pipeline creation, or editor extensions.
- Experience with multiplayer or large-scale system architectures.
