Job Description
The General Technician will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the property's facilities and equipment. This includes ensuring the safety of all areas, assisting guests with property-related inquiries, and maintaining all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, lighting, and HVAC units. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing non-operational equipment, completing work orders, and responding to calls for repairs. The technician will also monitor utility meters, conduct daily walk-arounds of plant rooms and workshops, and ensure all operational checklists are completed to maintain equipment in good working condition. Effective handover to the next shift, timely acknowledgment and resolution of guest complaints, and performing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) as instructed are crucial. The technician will operate the Building Management System (BMS) as required and maintain the cleanliness of workshops, work areas, and plant rooms.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance on all hotel facilities and equipment.
- Identify and address safety concerns throughout the property promptly.
- Provide guests with helpful information regarding hotel facilities and services.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of all lighting systems.
- Maintain and repair all Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units.
- Diagnose and fix any malfunctioning equipment.
- Execute all assigned work orders related to hotel operations.
- Respond to repair requests, escalating issues to the duty engineer if unable to resolve them directly.
- Monitor utility meter readings and report any unusual deviations.
- Perform daily inspections of plant rooms and workshops, reporting any irregularities.
- Complete daily engineering operational checklists to verify equipment functionality.
- Provide a thorough handover to the incoming shift, detailing pending tasks and significant ongoing work.
- Acknowledge and address guest complaints within specified timeframes, escalating unresolved issues with detailed remarks.
- Follow up on pending complaints during the shift, coordinating with the Engineering Shift Leader for completion.
- Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) for all equipment monthly, updating and validating PPM job sheets.
- Operate the Building Management System (BMS) as needed and report any changes or overrides to the Engineering Shift Leader.
- Ensure the cleanliness of workshops, work areas, and plant rooms before, during, and after work.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a high level of responsibility and reliability.
- Possess prior experience in painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, or similar maintenance tasks.
- Previous experience with pool and spa maintenance is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team with minimal supervision.
