Job description
Overview
This is a 12-month graduate programme offered on a permanent contract within the Emerging Markets Fixed Income team in London. It is built for a recent master’s graduate who wants practical exposure to investment management at a respected private bank.
The scheme is designed to give you broad insight into the finance sector and help you build the core capabilities needed for a long-term career in asset management.
The programme includes three rotations across Emerging Markets Debt, Investment Services, and Institutional Sales.
This opportunity is intended for early-career graduates with a master’s degree and no more than 12 months of professional experience after graduation. After completing the programme, there is an opportunity to move into a permanent position within the team.
Role after the programme
Following the 12-month rotation, the selected candidate is expected to join the Emerging Markets Debt team on a permanent basis. The role supports four investment professionals and one investment specialist.
The team manages hard currency and local currency emerging market debt, along with a total return strategy and a dedicated frontier debt fund. You will gain exposure to emerging market government debt from an investment viewpoint and assist with marketing content and strategy-related work for the team’s products.
The position also involves maintaining detailed Excel models and spreadsheets to track market and economic developments, as well as carrying out fundamental analysis of selected emerging economies. The objective is to help develop investment ideas that can be acted on within the portfolios and funds managed by the team.
Requirements
- A recently completed master’s degree in finance or economics from a highly regarded university. Candidates with a different degree may also be considered if they have started the CFA or another relevant financial qualification.
- Some prior exposure to the finance industry, ideally through internships, with Asset Management experience preferred and emerging markets experience considered an advantage.
- Advanced Excel ability and a clear interest in emerging markets.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Good analytical thinking, a structured way of working, strong communication skills, and a proactive, flexible attitude.
- Ability to work well with both business and technical colleagues, with a self-driven and delivery-focused mindset.
