The role ensures that all activities are carried out in line with the approved scope of work, approved drawings and procedures, and the organization’s standards, specifications, safety rules, and environmental obligations.
The role also acts as the coordination link between the Project Manager, Asset Holder, Contractor, and Construction Supervisors. It includes providing direction to supervisors and contractors so that decommissioning work follows approved method statements and remains aligned with the project timeline, quality expectations, and HSE requirements.
Experience and technical profile
The ideal candidate should bring a strong background in managing major decommissioning programs, with a clear emphasis on safe execution, compliance with regulations, and efficient operations. A minimum of 15 years of overall experience in construction engineering is required, including at least 8 years in offshore oil and gas environments focused on offshore facility decommissioning and abandonment.
Experience should include delivery of large decommissioning assignments involving offshore jackets, topsides, subsea pipelines, and umbilicals. Practical exposure to offshore operations and decommissioning methods is expected, including rigging, lifting, and removal of heavy structures. The candidate must also have solid experience with FEED and EPRD work and be able to review and approve contractor submissions effectively.
The role requires good computer skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and an excellent command of English in both spoken and written form. A thorough understanding of engineering standards used in the industry, together with strong awareness of quality control, safety, and environmental practices, is essential. The candidate should be able to read and assess method statements, inspection and test plans, construction schedules, and drawings, and should be comfortable supervising a diverse contractor workforce made up of multiple nationalities and cultures.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced qualifications or professional certifications such as PMP or CEng would be considered an advantage.
Additional information
This role is focused on offshore decommissioning execution and requires consistent coordination across project, contractor, and site teams. Strong attention to safety, quality, environmental compliance, and schedule adherence is central to the position.
