Head - Consulting (Data/AI)

Role overview

This leadership role is responsible for steering large-scale Data and AI transformation consulting engagements in Doha. The position combines delivery governance, executive stakeholder handling, team leadership, commercial oversight, and practice development to ensure client value and strong business results.

Core responsibilities

• Direct complex programme delivery and provide strong project leadership across major Data and AI transformation initiatives.
• Set up and manage PMO-style governance to keep programmes controlled, transparent, and aligned with client expectations.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders, communicate clearly at executive level, and use structured problem-solving to support decisions.
• Lead multidisciplinary consulting teams and ensure engagements are delivered successfully end to end.
• Balance commercial, operational, and consulting priorities such as business growth, staffing, risk control, and ongoing improvement.

Strategic duties

• Shape and lead the delivery strategy, operating model, and governance structure for the Consulting unit.
• Improve delivery methods, frameworks, playbooks, and toolkits to raise efficiency, quality, and risk control.
• Help build new capabilities such as Agile AI delivery and human-centred design to strengthen competitiveness.
• Support go-to-market efforts by using success stories, client outcomes, and case studies to help win new work and expand the pipeline.
• Plan workforce needs and capability-building efforts with HR to attract, grow, and retain top consulting talent.
• Act as executive sponsor for key client programmes, managing senior relationships and ensuring governance and communication stay effective.
• Develop long-term client relationships that create account growth, repeat business, and wider service opportunities.
• Represent the Consulting unit in executive governance meetings with performance updates, strategic guidance, and risk recommendations.
• Own financial performance at portfolio level, including revenue forecasts, margin improvement, utilisation, and commercial governance.

Operational duties

• Oversee projects and programmes from start to finish while maintaining coordination, delivery quality, and business outcomes.
• Put in place strong governance processes such as milestone monitoring, quality checkpoints, and formal delivery reviews.
• Track portfolio performance using KPIs like schedule adherence, budget use, quality measures, and client satisfaction.
• Handle escalations and take ownership of at-risk work by driving recovery and stabilisation plans.
• Ensure deliverables are quality-checked and peer reviewed before they are sent to clients.
• Lead and develop consulting staff, including managers, analysts, and subject-matter specialists.
• Plan and allocate resources across engagements to maximise utilisation while keeping workloads balanced and sustainable.
• Run performance management activities such as feedback, coaching, and career discussions.
• Support onboarding and integration of new joiners so they align with delivery standards and client needs.
• Continuously refine delivery practices using lessons learned from completed projects.
• Carry out post-project reviews and turn insights into better frameworks, tools, playbooks, and training material.
• Maintain proactive risk management through live risk registers, mitigation tracking, and early issue resolution.
• Prepare regular leadership reports covering status, financials, risks, and utilisation, and help ensure governance, contract, and regulatory compliance with Finance and PMO.

People leadership

• Promote a team culture that aligns with malomatia’s overall working style and values.
• Track employee development and support learning and capability growth.
• Guide direct reports through feedback, coaching, and counselling to improve performance.
• Contribute input to appraisals, promotions, and incentive decisions for project team members.
• Support resourcing decisions and participate in hiring and retention activities.
• Back leadership and functional capability-building through training initiatives.
• Help build succession plans for critical roles within the practice.
• Lead in a way that strengthens employee engagement and retention.

Experience required

You should bring at least 10 years of experience leading consulting delivery engagements, with a proven record of delivering on time and within budget. Experience managing multiple concurrent Data & AI or digital transformation projects for Tier-1 clients is expected, along with practical exposure to Agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches in large technology programmes.

Education and language

• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from a recognised university is required.
• A master’s degree, such as an MBA or relevant technical MSc, is preferred.
• Arabic is mandatory.
• English is mandatory.
