Role overview
This is a permanent, full-time leadership position at Virginia State School focused on guiding inclusive education as the Head of Special Education Services (HOSES).

Virginia State School is an established primary school located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane within the Metropolitan Region.
The school supports a varied and expanding community and places strong emphasis on inclusive education, student wellbeing and engagement from Prep through Year 6.
Staff partner closely with families and the broader community to help achieve positive outcomes for every student.
Key aspects of the role
- Oversee and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support through the Special Education Program (SEP) and/or Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP).
- Lead the SEP/ECDP team in providing specialist guidance to classroom teachers working with students with disability.
- Advise school leaders, teachers and staff on planning and putting in place effective reasonable adjustments.
- Organise intensive and targeted instruction for students who need extra intervention.
- Coordinate case management for students requiring extensive or substantial adjustments.
- Help staff access departmental and external specialist services, professional learning and further support.
- Contribute to school decision-making and professional learning that align with the school’s goals, vision and planning.
- Implement and manage school-wide systems, including data systems and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
- Develop and maintain partnerships with parents, government agencies and community organisations that support students with disability.
- Manage human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources in support of program and school priorities.
