Job description
About the opportunity
This is a rare opening for a school leader who is committed to inclusive education and to supporting learners with disability during the first year of a brand-new secondary school in the Logan area. The role offers a chance to help establish an inclusive culture from the outset and create a positive, long-term impact for students.
About the Department of Education
Joining the Queensland Department of Education means becoming part of an organisation that values its staff, encourages leadership and new ideas, and supports professionalism and diversity. The department also provides training and development opportunities and promotes flexible careers and healthy work-life balance.
The school context
In 2027, a new secondary school will open in the Logan area to support the future learning of about 660 Year 7 and Year 8 students. The person appointed will need strong expertise in supporting students with disability, along with the ability to establish a durable and effective inclusive-practice culture.
The role will also involve strengthening staff capability in differentiation and helping deliver high-quality education for all students. Strong strategic leadership is essential, particularly the ability to build a new program in a new-school environment and manage the associated complexities.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the delivery of expert advice and support through the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
- Lead the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program so classroom teachers can receive guidance for students with disability when required.
- Advise the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other staff on planning and implementing effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
- Organise and deliver intensive targeted teaching for students who need intervention.
Application requirements
- Provide a CV of no more than three pages, including details of two referees, one of whom must be your current supervisor.
- Submit a two-page response addressing only the first three selection criteria listed under the assessment section.
- Include a copy of the mandatory qualifications and/or registration specified in the attached role description.

The department welcomes applicants to let them know about any support they may need so the recruitment process can be inclusive.
Applications will remain active for 12 months after the closing date and may be considered for equivalent or similar vacancies across the department.
Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.
