About Employment Hero
Employment Hero is building a platform designed to simplify work and add more value for employers and employees alike. Its Employment Operating System combines hiring, HR, payroll, and employee benefits into one integrated solution.
Founded in 2014, the business has grown to a $2 billion valuation and operates across six countries: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, and Canada. Today, it supports more than 300,000 businesses and over 2 million employees.
The EH Way
The company describes its culture through “The EH Way,” which centers on the following principles:
- Mission-led decision making, with every priority tied back to the company mission.
- A remote-first approach that favors asynchronous communication and a high level of autonomy.
- An AI-first mindset, where AI is treated as a core part of how the business works, innovates, and scales.
- An apolitical stance, except where matters relate directly to the mission.
- Consistent alignment with company values in day-to-day work.
- High performance expectations and a strong focus on excellence.
Role Overview
This position is for an HR Advisor who will support clients with accurate, practical, and technical industrial relations and employee relations guidance. The role can be performed from anywhere in Australia.
You will advise HR managers, business owners, and line managers on a wide range of workplace issues, while balancing compliance requirements, risk management, and practical business solutions. The position also involves handling a high volume of calls and emails, maintaining records, and contributing to advisory content and internal improvement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver precise IR/ER advice to clients on operational matters such as performance management, misconduct, termination, personal illness, discrimination, harassment, adverse action, litigation-related matters, award interpretation, industrial disputes, and workplace policies and procedures.
- Carry out compliance reviews for clients, including guidance on award coverage for businesses and employee roles, along with recommendations to strengthen HR compliance.
- Escalate complex or high-risk matters to Senior Workplace Advisors or Team Leaders, including issues like termination after probation, redundancies, serious misconduct, business transfers, and difficult award interpretation.
- Handle a large volume of phone and email enquiries while remaining calm, professional, and accurate in the advice provided.
- Assess issues pragmatically, explain risks clearly, and suggest workable solutions that support compliance.
- Contribute to the company’s brand and knowledge base by supporting blogs, posts, webinars, update videos, and client guides or summaries.
- Participate in ongoing projects focused on process improvements and award summaries.
- Work with the legal team on more complex disputes, claims, and investigations.
- Support sales and marketing teams when needed to help grow the advisory product.
- Write and publish timely knowledge articles and blog content for the website and social media.
- Help drive improvement initiatives within the HR Advisory team using structured problem-solving methods.
- Ensure advice is shared only with authorised contacts in Salesforce, update contact details as needed, and keep Zendesk and the wider team aligned with those changes.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of advice, including call notes and email correspondence logged in Zendesk or Salesforce.
Who You Are
To succeed in this role, you should bring the mindset and operating style aligned to The EH Way, with strong focus, adaptability, and a drive to create impact.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in an HR Advisor role, or a comparable position.
- A qualification in HR, Law, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of Australian employment law.
- Strong capability in advising on industrial relations matters, with award interpretation being an advantage.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and customer service ability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in managing stakeholders and influencing them while advising across a range of HR matters.
- Comfort using a variety of software tools, systems, and technologies; experience with Salesforce, Zendesk, and Employment Hero is an advantage.
- A customer-centric approach and the ability to build durable working relationships.
- Experience collaborating in a global, remote team environment.
What We Offer
- Remote work with flexibility to manage your own time and impact.
- Access to modern tools that support your productivity, knowledge, and output.
- A team of ambitious, outcome-driven colleagues who encourage high performance.
- Employee share options in one of the world’s fastest-growing technology companies.
- Benefits including very generous paternity leave, subsidised egg freezing, a work-from-home office expense budget, and strong learning and development opportunities.
