Overview
Sunda International is looking to recruit a proactive and knowledgeable Human Resource Supervisor based in Weija, Greater Accra Region, Ghana. This vital role demands leadership in managing HR operations aligning with both Ghanaian labor laws and the company's international standards. The supervisor will champion recruiting the best talent, maintaining harmonious employee relations, and driving training and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute recruitment strategies tailored to the local Ghanaian labor market.
- Oversee the full recruitment cycle from advertising, sourcing, screening, interviewing, to final selection and job offer negotiation in compliance with the Ghana Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
- Manage onboarding processes ensuring smooth integration and acclimatization of new employees.
- Act as the primary contact for employee relations, addressing grievances, disciplinary actions, performance management, and resolving workplace conflicts fairly and legally.
- Provide guidance on company policies and Ghanaian employment laws, ensuring consistent and just implementation.
- Handle disciplinary procedures and grievances strictly adhering to due process under Ghanaian legislation.
- Promote an inclusive, positive workplace environment to boost employee morale and engagement.
- Keep updated with labor law changes including the Persons with Disability Act, 2006 and Data Protection Act, 2012, recommending necessary policy revisions.
- Liaise with external legal advisors and government entities like the National Labour Commission as required.
- Conduct training needs assessments, design and deliver relevant programs enhancing skills and leadership capabilities, coordinating with external providers when needed.
- Develop and maintain HR policies aligning with global standards and Ghanaian regulations while managing HR data in line with the Data Protection Act.
- Administer payroll, benefits, and compliance matters such as SSNIT contributions.
- Provide strategic HR counsel to senior management and contribute to broader HR strategy development specific to the Ghanaian context.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields such as Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law, or Psychology.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications like CIPD, SHRM-SCP/CP, or IHRMP Ghana are advantageous.
- At least 5 years of advancing HR experience including a minimum of 3 years in leadership positions.
- Strong background in Ghanaian labor law application, particularly the Labour Act, 2003.
- Experience serving multinational corporations or industries such as mining, telecom, or manufacturing is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of local labor laws and regulatory frameworks including Data Protection and Disability Acts.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiating, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information confidentially and make sound decisions.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluency in English; familiarity with local languages such as Twi, Ga, or Ewe is beneficial but not mandatory.
