About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Human Resources Operations Manager to lead daily HR activities for a community health organization based in New York City, with locations in Lower Manhattan and Jackson Heights, Queens. This role involves hands-on leadership over HR operations personnel and overseeing critical functions such as recruitment, onboarding, payroll management, benefits administration, training initiatives, employee relations, and offboarding processes to ensure smooth and compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise HR operations team while managing day-to-day departmental tasks.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategies related to employee retention, skill development, workforce planning, and productivity enhancement.
  • Enhance onboarding, orientation, and workplace safety programs to improve employee integration and safety.
  • Manage HRIS data integrity, employee recordkeeping, reporting, and related system maintenance.
  • Coordinate payroll, benefits administration, and processes involved in employee separation.
  • Support employee and labor relations, including performance appraisals, staff recognition programs, counseling, and grievance handling.
  • Ensure adherence to employment laws, Worker’s Compensation mandates, and internal organizational policies.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to HR workflows and the employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in managing human resources functions.
  • At least 3 years in supervisory roles or HR leadership positions.
  • Preferably experienced in healthcare or community-based organizations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HRIS platforms and benefits administration systems.
  • Prior exposure to unionized environments is advantageous.
  • SHRM certification is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and analytical skills essential.
