Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Melbourne, Victoria for an Information Technology Operations Manager. The position is responsible for supervising daily IT operations and maintaining the reliability, speed, and security of infrastructure, systems, and networks. You will lead IT support teams, coordinate incident and problem handling, and make sure technical issues affecting internal staff and client environments are resolved promptly.
What you will do
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations to keep infrastructure, systems, and networks stable, secure, and performing well.
- Manage support teams and guide them through incident response, problem resolution, and technical escalations.
- Coordinate incident and problem management so user and client issues are handled efficiently.
- Design and roll out IT policies, standards, and processes that follow IT service management best practices.
- Support capacity planning to ensure technology resources can meet ongoing business needs.
- Handle vendor coordination and asset management activities.
- Assist with budgeting and contribute to operational financial planning.
- Monitor and report on service performance, operational metrics, and SLA outcomes.
- Work closely with security and consulting functions to align operational work with information security needs and business priorities.
Qualifications and experience
- A solid background in IT operations and broader information technology, including experience with infrastructure, networks, and core business applications.
- Demonstrated IT management experience, with team leadership, resource planning, and regular stakeholder communication.
- Practical technical support experience, including the ability to steer teams through complex incidents and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL, along with experience in SLA oversight, change control, and service delivery.
- Experience in environments where information security and compliance matter, especially when supporting SME clients, will be seen as a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and a structured approach to problem solving.
- Clear communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to explain technical matters in business terms.
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of practical experience.
- Professional certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar are beneficial.
