Position Overview

The IT Administrator II role invites a skilled professional to provide comprehensive support and management for end-user computing devices, peripherals, software, and other technology assets. This job functions primarily in a manufacturing office environment located in Chanute, KS, with the requirement to perform frequent inspections and operations on the production floor during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, and troubleshoot user devices, peripherals, printers, and presentation equipment.
  • Support both local and remote client devices and applications effectively.
  • Perform repair tasks and execute diagnostic procedures to resolve technical problems.
  • Manage and resolve issues through a ticketing system and develop user guidance procedures.
  • Administer user accounts and group memberships in Active Directory.
  • Assist with planning, implementing, maintaining, and documenting all technology support processes.
  • Collaborate within the technology team and with vendors to manage hardware and system support.
  • Conduct file-level recoveries and support Operating System Deployment (OSD) systems.
  • Assist infrastructure teams to manage various systems, including VOIP and email.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and comply with safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties assigned as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience in desktop support roles.
  • Associate degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong customer service focus and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in supporting diverse users with various technology backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with professionalism in interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Adaptability to dynamic work conditions, competing demands, and unexpected events.
  • Capability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently under pressure.
  • Competency in defining issues, gathering relevant data, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours including overtime and weekends as business needs require.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role primarily operates within an office setting inside a manufacturing facility and necessitates frequent visits to the production floor with potential exposure to moving machinery, fumes, and airborne particles. Moderate to loud noise levels may exist, requiring the use of personal protective equipment. The job entails:

  • Proficient use of computer equipment and telecommunications devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and monitor displays.
  • Physical coordination for equipment installation, including fine motor skills.
  • Normal visual acuity, including color recognition, with corrective lenses if needed.
  • Occasional work in temperature extremes (above 100°F or below 60°F).
  • Navigating slippery or uneven surfaces and accessing elevated areas via stairs or ladders.
  • Noise environment may demand hearing protection.
