Role overview

This role is for a Junior Electrical Engineer to support an EPC company in Qatar.
What you will do
- Carry out study, design, specification, and detailed design work for standard electrical devices, systems, units, and facilities.
- Take on assignments of limited size and complexity, generally handling smaller parts of larger engineering workstreams.
- Review technical documentation and develop practical solutions using established engineering methods and experience.
- Work with guidance to prepare and modify drawings, documents, and databases based on examples, procedures, or direction from senior engineers.
- Produce basic electrical engineering deliverables such as cable schedules, earthing layouts, lighting layouts, equipment layouts, and equipment selection/sizing documents.
- Use discipline tools for calculations and design, such as Dialux, under supervision.
- Revise existing or create new drawings and documents to meet project-specific needs.
- Interpret codes, standards, and specifications and apply them correctly to conventional electrical systems.
- Assess vendor technical and commercial quotations and support vendor selection recommendations.
- Own your documents through checking, validation, scope control, change tracking, and document management.
- Flag how your work affects other disciplines and complete basic cross-discipline checks.
- Support technical evaluations, engineering requisitions, proposals, and estimates for electrical scope.
- Contribute to project meetings, departmental discussions, technical reviews, and safety reviews.
- Manage your tasks with awareness of time and budget, including keeping work within allocated hours.
- Work independently on site if the assignment requires it.
- Take on additional duties as assigned by the company from time to time.
Requirements
- B.E. or an equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Usually 2 to 3 years of post-graduate experience in engineering consultancy or an EPC environment within the oil and gas industry.
- Solid understanding of load calculations and cable sizing methods.
- Ability to work with limited supervision while still following technical guidance and established procedures.
- Comfort with reviewing engineering documents, vendor quotations, and standard technical specifications.
Additional information
This position is based in Qatar and is intended for on-site work. The role is at contract level. Results are typically reviewed in detail, and the work involves handling conventional electrical systems within established engineering guidelines.
