Role Overview

The Subsea Network Operation Center (NOC) Engineer is charged with ensuring seamless 24/7 operation and upkeep of submarine cable networks. This operational position involves close adherence to guidelines and may require guidance to guarantee quality performance results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of subsea cable systems, related technologies, vendors, and network management systems.
  • Maintain continuous equipment and traffic uptime for the submarine cable network.
  • Perform monitoring of network traffic, analyze faults, handle complaints, and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with Cable Landing Stations (CLS) to troubleshoot and rectify network faults.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance as per JSMD procedures.
  • Manage both scheduled and unexpected operational activities, providing regular updates to relevant teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal customers, consortium members, CLS, and vendors to solve system problems.
  • Handle circuit provisioning tasks — including activation, deactivation, and testing — in liaison with CLS teams.
  • Test and maintain restoration routes to guarantee readiness for network recovery situations.
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit detailed equipment and network performance reports to the consortium on schedule.
  • Coordinate cable failure repairs and traffic restoration aligned with JSMD guidelines.
  • Resolve equipment and network issues by implementing corrective measures recommended by vendors.
  • Manage installation and upgrade processes for network infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with processes aimed to meet or exceed SLAs and KPIs, maintaining high customer satisfaction through optimum network functionality.
  • Maintain and manage network tools and equipment: administration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Support installations for both new and existing projects, involving termination, testing, labeling of cables, and hardware setups.
  • Conduct regular network vulnerability assessments, including servers, applications, and operating systems.
  • Perform scheduled network security audits and vulnerability scans, compiling and tracking findings for reports and metrics.
  • Manage timely upgrades of operational tools and associated documentation, including standard operating procedures.
